Board Requirements Progress 8-31-2021-9/4/2021


Elevators:

  • Need one of the elevator prefabs to be positioned properly.
  • Gate & Switch Tech needs to be built in front of the elevator prefabs.

Halls:

  • All of the halls are set up to work for each level. As for polish, they could use improvements still on Levels 3 and 4. Level 3 isn't matching up well with the floor & Level 4 needs the halls to be completely sized and saved into the prefabs.

Rooms:

As of right now, all of the rooms need polish. The only rooms that have prefabs are: the offices, the storage rooms, labs, machine rooms, and a classroom.

  • Each level needs its own rooms so the game doesn't get monotonous. This should be one of the funnest parts of development.

NPCs:

I might have enough NPCs already to finish the game. I only need 8 and I have 3 set up in the levels so far.

  • Once the remaining 5 npcs are set up with their dialog I can just add them to all of the levels. (It may help to add a function to destroy all of the excess NPCs and their conversations after selecting, positioning and spawning the NPC for each level.

Monsters:

I have a good number of monster prefabs for each of the levels. I would still like to add more.

  • For Levels 3 & 4, acquire new models, animations and sounds. Create their prefabs. Add them to their respective spawners.

Switch & Gate:

  • This will go with the elevators portion. Once the gates spawn with the EXIT elevator, a function will search through the available switch points to randomly place the gate switch.
  • Make a new and improved gate switch.

Weapons:

There will only be 3 main weapons in the game. All are finished!

  • Tranq Pistol
  • Tranq Shotgun
  • Tranq Sword (This past week!) Got this bad boy mesh off of the asset store. The creator of this sword is awesome! Love the steam punk, scifi style.


Items:

The only items that will carry through to the final version are: healthKits, pistolAmmo, shotgunAmmo, and tags.

I realized this week that the items have always been a design hang-up for this project. Even after creating an inventory system from scratch, I wasn't sure what items I could add.

There will still be items to lift curses (neurological disturbances) or cure poison. These items just won't be inventory items anymore. (As proud as I am of that inventory system, it'll just cause too much scope creep.)

But what other items do I need? I can't think of anything else that would be necessary to the core of the game. 

I'll just add a list of items and add any possibilities.

  • Health Kits
  • Pistol Ammo
  • Shotgun Ammo
  • Tags
  • Bait?
  • Bullet Proof Vest: Blocks drone bullets?
  • Grenades?

I've been contemplating adding more lore pieces. Notes? Posters? We'll see.

...

Of course, all of this will take time, but there's no way around that regardless of what I do. So, as always, steady as she goes.
