Progress Notes (8/5/2021-8/11/2021)
*Keep in mind that these changes will be in the final version (also will be available on Steam), not the current early access version.
8/5/2021
-Added code to change the board layout and functions to prevent the player from leaving in the starting elevator. Now, a second elevator spawns at some random point in the level. The elevators are being a pain to position correctly when they spawn, but it is working without errors.
-Commented code out to remove the 'pull 7 switches' functionality to leave the level. As of right now, the concept is: the player has to find the elevator and they can leave immediately, BUT no progress is being made because they didn't look for a survivor or gather items.
-Removed the 3rd person portion all together. If I still add a lobby scene, it'll be first person instead.
-Changed player character model to a female sci-fi character instead.
8/6/2021
-Lined up the elevators.
-Created the separate levels 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, etc. Made sure that they were connected.
-Created the start for the new and improved AlienLifeLab_Tutorial level.
-Added more enemy spawners. Removed enemies that aren't needed anymore.
-Changed some of the sfx

-Made the tutorial work with npcs and simple bouncy enemy balls.
8/8/2021
-Connected the scenes to make the first Start button and the return Start button go to the right scene.
Here's the first time I've ever seen a door randomly spawn in this room. It didn't even go to anything. It was just a wall behind it. Hmph, the silly things that this game does sometimes.
8/9/2021
-Removed code that plays a cutscene after finding a NPC in the levels.
8/10/2021
DONE!-make sure that the save data is cleared when saved game is deleted. (Credits aren't resetting)
DONE!-NPCs aren't saving correctly. Make sure they do when saved on the elevator.
*Made a backup
Note to self:
-(Write some debug code to see how many times the code rolls to spawn NPCs) It seems to take too long to spawn them. I need to narrow it down so it doesn't keep rolling for characters that are already saved.
-This project seems to be coming together. It always feels like a house of cards that could fall apart. Though, it's beginning to have real game structure to it finally.
8/11/2021
-Made sure the save data is cleared when game is deleted (credits, ammo, health kept sticking after game was reset)
-NPCs weren't saving correctly.
-Patched up the code to spawn the NPCs and randomly place them. Now, the code collects the remaining NPCs that are lost in the game before rolling to see which one will spawn.
-Cleaned up a lot of the level design stuff: which monsters will spawn on each level. Polished some of the audio. Tuned some of the health, damage and other properties of the enemies that will still be in the final cut.
