New Vertical Slice Version Coming Soon!


Progress is continuing on Alien Life Lab!

A NEW BIG VERTICAL SLICE IS COMING...

Soon there will be a new update to the AlienLIfeLab project that'll be a much cleaner and meatier slice of the game with more features and content. It will still be considered an early access version. The full complete game will be realized only after the slice has been formed into the perfect model to flesh the rest of the game out.


I like to think of it as building the pieces of the game like in Mario Maker. Then, making all of the levels with the pieces.


Here's some of the new features that are completed so far on the BIG DELICIOUS NEW VERTICAL SLICE COMING SOON! Expect this and more when the next update comes out:

  • Draw distance and pitch-black fog utilized to improve performance.
  • "Zoom-In" no longer keeps the player's hands in direct view. (It was like his arms were stretching into the distance with his eyes.)
  • Items now have a glow when the player is looking at them.
  • Original 9-Slot Inventory with simple 2-item-at-a-time crafting functionality.
  • The game now saves players' progress by saving the player's inventory after every action that involves it. If you pick up an item, it saves. If you combine two items into a new one, it saves.If you discard items, it saves. Etc.
  • The save file is also encrypted in the game files.
  • Progress can be deleted.
  • Title Screen, Introduction Scenes, 3rd Person Lobby Portion of the Game and 1st Person Cargo Holds scenes are connected and loop around to each other seamlessly.
  • New aliens that react to the flashlight, swim through the air, and/or use pathfinding AI.
  • New  and Less-Immersion-Breaking Monster Audio SFX.
  • Physics-utilizing, ricocheting bullets!
  • Fully randomized items, aliens, halls, rooms.
